Pic1.5Ralph KD1SM, and Tom (White hat) WA1RHP are discovering that a pre-alignment of all the tower sections on the ground, BEFORE erection is a good idea.
A LOT of time was wasted forcing this section together. Even with 'RHP, the incredible Bulk, hanging on it, the section would not drop onto the previous section. Meanwhile, the weather got worse...
Ralph (white shirt) KD1SM is using the come-along to force the tower section. Tom WA1RHP, is standing on a movable tower step, a comfortable way to stand on the tower for hours.
Rich N1GNB, and Jeanine (Red shirt) N1QIT who had been doing yeoman service, pulling up the sections of tower up to Ralph and Tom, can't quite figure out what they should do to help the situation....
Paul N1BWT and Matt KB1VC found the proper mix of tower sections, marked and greased them so erection could continue.
Matt KB1VC, and Paul N1BWT, guiding the seventh section into place. The large tower girdle and long arms are in evidence at this level.
Matt (Red shirt) KB1VC, and Paul (Blue shirt) N1BWT, guiding the seventy foot section into place. This is Paul's height limit. Notice the overcast...
Gordy WA9WTK, and Jeanine N1QIT, getting the top section ready to go up. John KE1CQ continues to guard the WA1RHP truck from the evil rain.
Gordy, is aligning the tower... Doug is diving for cover!
Matt KB1VC, waiting for Ralph to join him on the tower. The transmitter antenna on the peak of the garage housing the repeater is in the foreground.
Ralph and Matt finishing the 77 foot tower. The rain is about to start...
Ralph (White shirt) KD1SM, and Matt (Red Shirt) KB1VC, getting wet.
Matt KB1VC at the top of the 77 foot tower. Does he look relaxed or what?
What we're trying to do is... get a pipe in the top of the tower... John KE1CQ is supplying witty remarks, Gordy WA9WTK is providing "helpful" suggestions, Doug N1OGS is pulling the tower down, Jeanine N1QIT is backing up Doug's efforts, Paul N1BWT is watching for what's about to fall on the group, and Tom WA1RHP is "supervising". The job was actually finished by the two guys up the tower, Matt KB1VC and Ralph KD1SM.
Having exhausted her OM Ralph (KD1SM), Jeanine N1QIT is glad to have this tower done! Can you tell she's ready for the party at the Senie's?
Paul N1BWT, trying to form a 5 Ghz. resonant cavity. Tom WA1RHP, trying not to get burned by the radiation.
John KE1CQ, kept records of who participated, and kept WA1RHP's truck safe.
Scruffy, hid behind a tree so those people on the tower wouldn't drop stuff on him.
